HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT MOTORCYCLE GLOVES

Not every ride calls for the same gloves. Hot summer days, cold morning commutes and hours of rain all demand something different. Here's how Odin Mfg's motorcycle glove lineup breaks down.

LEATHER MOTORCYCLE GLOVES

For everyday riding, our Originals and Heavy Hitters offer premium leather construction, comfort and practical features. The Originals include our signature tank magnets and flip-tip fingers, while the Heavy Hitters are available with D3O® impact protection.

SUMMER MOTORCYCLE GLOVES

When temperatures climb, airflow and comfort matter. Our Perforated D3O® Heavy Hitters combine premium leather, ventilation and impact protection for warm-weather riding.

Our SMX motorcycle gloves take a different approach. Built for the streets, they feature perforated aniline leather palms, Velcro wrist closures and a flexible fit for confident control on the bars. They've been put through their paces by Odin's sponsored stunt riders, including wheelies and pavement hand drags, where they've demonstrated impressive durability.

Two different gloves, built for riders who don't park their bikes when the temperatures rise.

WATERPROOF MOTORCYCLE GLOVES

Wet weather calls for more coverage. Our APEX waterproof gloves and waterproof gauntlet options are designed to help keep hands dry when conditions turn. Choose based on the coverage, fit and features you need.

D3O® MOTORCYCLE GLOVES

D3O® impact protection adds another level of protection to selected Odin gloves. Our Heavy Hitters combine D3O® components with leather construction for riders looking for impact protection without giving up everyday comfort.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How should motorcycle gloves fit?

Motorcycle gloves should fit snugly without restricting finger movement or circulation. Your fingertips should reach comfortably into the fingers without excessive material bunching, and the gloves shouldn't shift significantly when gripping the handlebars. Leather may soften with use, but gloves shouldn't require painful stretching to fit. Check Odin Mfg's size chart before ordering, as fit will vary slightly between glove styles. Heavy Hitters likely won't fit the same as an SMX glove. One has knuckles, one doesn't. For example, if you're a XL in SMX you are likely a 2XL if you're buying Heavy Hitters. When in doubt, size up!

Do Heavy Hitters gloves stretch with use?

Yes. The premium leather used on Odin Mfg Heavy Hitters will stretch with use. If you're gloves feel snug at first that's good. If they're restricting movement or feel like they're cutting off circulation, exchange them for a larger size.

What is D3O protection in motorcycle gloves?

D3O® is an impact-protection material engineered to remain flexible during normal movement and absorb and dissipate energy during an impact. Selected Odin Mfg motorcycle gloves, including our D3O Heavy Hitters, incorporate this technology to provide additional impact protection without sacrificing everyday comfort. D3O components alone do not establish that an entire glove is CE-certified.

What are the best motorcycle gloves for summer riding?

The best summer motorcycle gloves balance airflow, comfort and protection. Odin Mfg offers Perforated D3O® Heavy Hitters for riders who prefer ventilated leather with impact protection, and SMX gloves featuring perforated aniline leather palms and Velcro wrist closures. Both are options for warmer riding conditions, with different construction and fit characteristics.

Are leather motorcycle gloves better than textile gloves?

Leather motorcycle gloves are popular for their durability, abrasion-resistant properties and the way they conform to your hands over time. Textile gloves can offer advantages in ventilation, flexibility and wet-weather construction. Neither material is automatically more protective—construction, reinforcement and testing matter. Odin Mfg offers leather gloves and other riding-specific options for different preferences and conditions.

What motorcycle gloves are best for riding in the rain?

For wet-weather riding, look for motorcycle gloves with waterproof construction, secure wrist closures and enough coverage to help prevent water from entering. Odin Mfg's APEX waterproof gloves and waterproof gauntlet options are designed for riding when the weather turns. The right choice depends on temperature, riding duration and how much coverage you prefer.
